Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) |
|
|
CTA is a safe and accurate method of acquiring detailed images of the vascular system (your blood circulatory system). CTA is used as an alternative to MRA when a metal stent has already been placed in the area to be studied, or if you have an implanted metal device, such as a pacemaker. CTA technique is used to image the arteries of the brain, carotid arteries, aorta, renal arteries, and vessels of the extremities.
Patient Experience
The examination will take approximately 30-60 minutes to complete, depending on the information requested by your healthcare provider. After you arrive, a highly-skilled CT technologist will start an intravenous (IV) line in a vein in your arm. You will begin your exam by lying on the CT scan table. For the best quality images, you need to be as still as possible during the exam. The table moves slowly through the ring-shaped CT scanner as the images are taken. The technologist will be outside of the room and is immediately available at all times.
After Your Exam
Your CT images will be interpreted by a board-certified subspecialty radiologist and the findings will be sent to your healthcare provider. Your healthcare provider will contact you to discuss the results.
CTA is available at: Blaine, Coon Rapids, Maple Grove, Southdale and Burnsville |
