Two Suburban Imaging Radiologists Named “Best Doctors for Women”

Dr. Ellen Abeln and Dr. Kevin Henseler were named Best Doctors for Women in radiology in the January 2013 issue of Minnesota Monthly magazine.

Dr. Kevin Henseler and Dr. Ellen Abeln

Dr. Abeln is Medical Director of The Breast Center of Suburban Imaging in Coon Rapids, MN. This is her fifth time being selected as a “Best Doctor.” As a breast imaging radiologist, Dr. Abeln is an advocate of breast health and breast cancer reduction, including annual mammography starting at age 40. “Breast cancer is a scary diagnosis. Annual screening mammography is the best protection against breast cancer, but also provides peace of mind. I try to help manage any anxiety my patients may be experiencing,” said Dr. Abeln.

Dr. Henseler is Director of Radiology at Mercy and Unity Hospitals in the Twin Cities. He is an interventional radiologist, specializing in minimally-invasive procedures, and assisting patients in achieving optimal health. “Women are the primary healthcare decision makers in their families. It is gratifying to see that the minimally invasive techniques of Interventional Radiology are being chosen by more and more women,” Dr. Henseler stated. “Women suffering from fibroids, varicose veins or even artery blockages can be treated more quickly and recover sooner – usually the same day. It is wonderful to have such a positive impact on the women I treat, and humbling to be singled out as someone who is providing care that is improving the health of women,” he said.

Congratulations to them both for this honor.
